After breakfast we will drive to Kumrovec and we will visit an open-air museum has some tastefully restored traditional homes. The birthplace of Tito, a small low house built in 1860. Inside is a tiny exhibition devoted to the statesman. The village also has some twenty homes and barns, built between 1860 and 1937, with pastel-colored façades and the occasional thatched roof. After breakfast we will enter to Montenegro. First, we will stop to a small village called Perast. Perast, as an absolute highlight of the Bay of Kotor, is also one of the most beautiful Baroque towns in Montenegro. As a former sailor center, it still shines with marvelous buildings, pretty churches and a romantic waterfront. Nevertheless, the main attractions of Perast, and also the most famous postcard motif of Kotor Bay, are the 2 offshore church islands, which can be visited on a boat trip. Then we drive to the city of Kotor. Kotor’s top attractions are all in the pedestrian old town, so you can easily get around on foot. After breakfast we drive to Albania but we will first stop to Budva. Budva is a town in Montenegro on the Adriatic Sea. Part of the Budva Riviera, it’s known for sandy beaches and nightlife. Stone walls built by the Venetians surround the narrow streets of the medieval old town (Stari Grad). This historic district is home to a seaside citadel and religious sites such as the Church of Santa Maria in Punta, established in the 9th century. Then we drive to Shkodra. After breakfast we drive to Shkodra the most important town of north Albania and the Illyrian capital, in the 3rd century BC. Visit Rozafa Castle from where spectacular views all around can be admired. Experience the supremacy the Illyrians would have feel over their enemies standing in such an imposing castle. Take a walk in the newly renovated pedestrian area of Italian and Austrian architecture, testimony to this town historic links with both these countries and then we will visit the famous Viennese mask factory which is located near the city of Shkodra. The Venetian masks made in Shkodra are all crafted by hand. They combine traditional techniques with new contemporary decoration. The masks have intricate details, bright colors, fancy feathers, gold leaf, and crystals that make them unique pieces of art. The masks are exported all over the world. Proceed to Kruja – the center of Albanian resistance against the Turks under our national hero Scanderbeg. He kept them from crossing into Western Europe for 25 years, thus earning the title “Champion of Christ” given by the Pope of the time. After breakfast we will start the amazing free tour that will take us to some of the most important landmarks in the Albanian capital. We will walk to Skanderbeg Square to admire the impressive mosaic on the façade of the National Museum. Afterward, we will admire the iconic buildings of the area such as the National Museum of Fine Arts, Bunk’Art 2, and the Dajti Hotel. Our tour then continues by strolling through the picturesque streets of the city center and crossing the river Lana until we reach the magnificent Pyramid of Tirana. You will learn all about the history of this fascinating construction and why it exists in Albania. We then head to the former Communist Party headquarters, which is now the elegant Presidential Palace. After breakfast we drive Ohrid but first we stop to Elbasan. We will visit old town and then we drive to Ohrid. It is the largest city on Lake Ohrid and the eighth largest city in the country, Ohrid is famous for having had 365 churches, one for each day of the year, and has been referred to as Jerusalem (from the Balkans) Ohrid and the Lake Ohrid has been recognized as a cultural and natural heritage by UNESCO, in fact Ohrid is one of only 28 UNESCO World Heritage sites that are both cultural and natural sites.
